Why Infolinks Reduced Payment Threshold?
Image via CrunchBase
Received an email yesterday morning from Infolinks. It was to communicate a couple of good news with its publishers. One of those were the payment threshold was reduced by 50% for those who are receiving via PayPal. It used to be $100 required to accumulate before you could request payment.
There has started a debate if in-text advertisement is acceptable concerning the good user experiences. Many bloggers have faced sharp comments for using in-text advertisements like infolinks. I had read some comments and responses from some bloggers who intended to remove the program after they clear payment of whatever earned till date. This reduced threshold will ease them and clear off sooner.
Why am I still using Infolinks? Well, Infolinks is not that bad as being discussed. If somebody excessively uses the links to ‘uglify’ their posts, its up to them. It shows their ‘greedy’ teeth all wide. But using 3 – 5 Ad links in a good long post won’t devastate the reading experience. I hope, you won’t mind me earning a few cents with this compromise.
Or, will there be an reverse effect? Because the threshold is reduced, the payment will be sooner. Will this tempt bloggers to keep sticking with Infolinks? Will Infolinks be able to attract more bloggers in its network?
Why was the threshold determined to be $100 earlier. There certainly were good reasons to justify the amount fixed. Are those reasons changed now to change the threshold?
In my first reading of that email I was happy. I can get payment sooner and better utilize the amount. There is already $50 in my account, now scheduled for April 15. The whole long day it kept on wheeling my mind why the new provision?
I hope, along with an attempt to attract bloggers keep sticking, Infolinks is working to attract advertisers who are the ultimate fuel for the whole engine. Hope to see some great offers to convert the publishers as advertisers.
Are you using Infolinks in your site or blog? What are your thoughts on this new change?

I have never used infolinks. Adbrite offers this ability for in text links. I do not find it bothersome if anyone uses it as long as it is not excessively.
It is good that they are offering a better payout programs. $100 is a lot to work up to for some.

I found Infolinks paying bit more than Adsense does. But it might differ according to niche and geography I guess.

As my experience says, Infolinks can return somewhat equal to the adsense earning in my case. But because I’m in Nepal and we can’t use PayPal, I need to wait till $400 to request cheque payment. Anyway, I hope I’ll reach up there soon.
The reduction of threshold certainly encourages new publishers to try and decide the system.

That rss feature on your website here is magnificent, you should tell people about it in your upcoming post. I haven’t noticed it for the first couple of times, now I’m using it each morning to check on any updates. I’m on a rattling slow dial-up connection in Australia and it’s quite daunting to sit there and wait for such a long time ’til the page loads… but hey, I just found your rss page and added it to the Google Reader and there you are… I’m always up-to-date! Well pal, keep up the good work and make that rss button a little bigger so that other people can enjoy that as well

I used to use kontera on my site. But I got rid of it for a couple of reasons: 1) it didn’t really convert well 2)I heard a lot of people had a bad experience with the company 3) I heard conflicting things regarding whether you can use it together with adsense.
Anyway, is infolinks better? I like that the thresholds are being lowered, it’s good for relative newbies.
Cheers!

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. If Kontera did not work for you, I can’t say Infolinks will work because both are contextual in-text ad system.

Infolinks may pay more than Adsense. But Adsense is an established and trusted company, more so than any other advertising network.

Yes, you are ture to say Adsense is more established and more reputed than other networks but at the end of day all we care is higher revenue. It might not be for every sites but in my case I’m more happy with Infolinks. I’m been recently paid on 2nd of July.

Infolinks Reduced Payment Threshold just to invite and attract all publishers who do not take part in infolinks just for its high threshold.
