Prove Yourself NOT SPAM Register commentLuv.com
I believe there is no need to explain what is commentLuv and what it does. More and more blogs are implementing commentLuv everyday and I know you really love it.
But how can I forget to our new friends who have just entered into blogging world?
In fact, commentLuv is a pluggin developed by Andy Bailey for WordPress and Blogger (still not very happy) blogging platform. This allows the blog owner to reward the comment author by allowing a recent post link. This way a commenter is happy to realize that she is rewarded for the contribution in content she has made.
It allows you to select (optionally) a link to the post from the list of recent ten posts from your blog. Look at the image below:
Just below the ‘Submit’ button you saw a check box to enable commentLuv for your comment. As soon you you enter URL of your website, it will pull the list of recent post that you can open and select by clicking the down facing arrow at the end of line. Now you are free to choose any of the posts from the list to leave it as recent post link along with comment text.
This post is not to introduce commentLuv as such. I was going to point out something else.
Prove Yourself Not Spam
Now the importance and usefulness of commentLuv is no more limited to allowing and getting a link back to the recent post. You prove yourself not spam by registering on commentluv.com. Register once and prove everywhere. The plugin creator Andy says:
…the best thing is, if someone abuses the system, I can ban them at source and from thenst onwards, thou mayest not post thine links!!
… if they spot someone taking the piss then they can report them via the ‘report this comment’ link and I can
rip out their heartremove their status from the db and they wont feel the luv on any CommentLuv enabled blogs.
Is it not developing as an effective way to control spams among commentLuv enabled blogs network? But will depend how long Andy can keep working on receiving and marking spams on his database.
Dofollow Love
CommentLuv links (The link to recent post pulled by commentLuv plugin) are dofollow now. Drink as much link juice as you wish as long as you don’t spam.
Track your links!
Now point to the heart link and track how many times it was clicked. Better than this it will reveal more information about yourself.

Hey Suresh, thanks so much for sharing this info and the video. I signed up for CommentLuv a few months ago, but I’ve never done a blog post. When people ask me about CommentLuv and DoFollow I’ll send them here.

It works for blogger blogs if you have implemented commentLuv comment system. But to take full advantage, wordpress is better.
Jason Acidre on May 17, 2010
Is it possible for commentLuv to be available for joomla 1.5 platform? I know, it was really designed for wordpress, but I was just hoping that in time it will also be available to joomla users. I find it more interesting than disqus, and as for what I can see with its performance, it’s possible that a community for bloggers who uses commentLuv will be organized anytime soon. Another advantage for bloggers in building their reputation in this industry, plus the dofollow benefits of that group of blogs.

It would have been lovely to have this plug in for Joomla platform too, but I don’t see it in near future. A few third party commenting system have worked with Andy to implement it in their system so that other platforms like Blogger can reap the benefits of. If you use third party commenting system in your Joomla site, it is possible. But I did not prefer them because I wish my properties be with me. Comments are most precious indeed.
Jason Acidre on May 18, 2010
I agree, and I guess that’s what separates wordpress from joomla and drupal, wp has more access to popular and very useful plug-ins. I’m not really against wp, I just like the technicality of joomla, it excites me more in learning the ropes of the platform.
I love that show, and I also like the character named Prof. Suresh there. Unfortunately, the show was officially canceled few days ago. Anyway, nice to meet you Suresh, I’ll be back to read more of your future posts.

Great post. We’re now seriously thinking about adding CommentLuv to our blog now. Does it attract a lot of spam comments?

Are you not facing lots of spam comments even without commentLuv? CommentLuv is more attractive to comment authors because you are rewarding a link back to his/her recent post. But you need not worry about spam comments for using commentLuv because now, they are not getting any link juice – useless effort. Spam is centrally controlled for link love. Fighting with spam comments is your regular job as you’ve always done.

It’s true that Comment Luv has been around awhile, but there are always new novice bloggers who may not know. And then there are the select few that continue to resist the common sense of registering. In any case this is a great article to help them all out. I know I dragged my feet and then I wondered why I had waited so long. Comment Luv Rocks!

Thanks Joella for your inspiration. Because we are commenting in a lot of blogs and we know majority have started implementing commentLuv, its better to register and prove ‘I AM NOT SPAM’! Moreover if I register commentLuv, my link back is ‘dofollow’ and I’m having some link juice. CommentLuv really is developing more and more attractive!

Thanks Suresh for that latest post. Thanks acknowledging those who are just newbies to Blogging World about the commentluv. I just found out about this I think 3 months ago but I still want to learn more about this. I agree, it’s always important to prove yourself you’re not a spammer by leaving a quality comment and relevant to the topic.

I am new to the blogging world and CommentLuv was something new for me, so thanks for sharing the useful information. I found a tutorial, explaining how installation of the plug-in is done for a Blogger platform, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to get it to work. Will try again in the next couple of days.
Kokodak on June 16, 2010
Well it sure is a cool plugin but how can you use it if your blog is not a WordPress or Blogger platform?
Justin on June 18, 2010
Actually, the site is great! What could be better when you register, and after that everyone of your blog posts is dofollow? Awesome!

I’ve just learned about dofollow blogs in an SEO book called “The Unfair Advantage to Winning the Search Engine Wars.” I can see how this can benefit people who post, but how would it benefit someone to add this plugin? Wouldn’t it just attract a bunch of spammers?
William on July 6, 2010
I was slightly confused about how the whole commentluv thing works. So essentially if I add this plugin to my website everyone who has registered with commentluv and comments on my blog will receive dofollow links?
karen on July 11, 2010
Great post. Thanks for the info.
MissSapphire on July 11, 2010
William, I am neither not sure about all thins things… but I think yes, they will receive dofollow links. I’m not sure if it works on every site… ?

I think that the commentluv plugin is such a good idea! It is such a creative way to allow commentors to be heard/give them an incentive to comment well. I bet it prevents lots of "would-be" spam.

It would have been attractive to have this put in for Joomla ! program too, but I never see it in near future. A few third celebration leaving feedback program have labored with Andrew to use it in their program so that other types like Writer can make use of. If you use third celebration leaving feedback program in your Joomla ! site, it is possible. But I did not desire them because I wish my attributes be with me. Surveys are most special indeed.
