Promoting Your Keyword Using Dofollow Comments

No sooner I had turned off those devil ‘NOFOLLOW’ from comment author and recent posts link, I observed a good increment in interest to leave comments in the posts. I’m glad with all this. I feel my blog is breathing better.

There has arisen some issues too, due to this recent change and my declaration to welcome every comment author with a reward of link juice, some new comment authors are jumping and running through all over the marathon ground.

Its not to hurt you nor I am against the keyword promotion that you feel vital in ranking, but look at the appearance of comment:

comment

Now, how shall I respond to this comment? Shall I greet Welcome Emecopaul Blogging tips? Is it not far more than ridiculous?

I thought for the solution. I know, Andy used to provide KeywordLuv plugin that would separate name from the keywords entered in Name field of comment form. But it is no more compatible. Andy responded in my previous post “How to Know if Your Blog is Dofollow or Nofollow?” as:

You may be interested in some new developments for CommentLuv and dofollow (and keywordluv type features)

Check out my last blog post link, it will lead you to a post that explains how to have your blog as dofollow for the last blog post links and not have to worry about dofollow bots ruining it for everyone.

it’s funny the previous comment about calling someone Internet Marketer, I don’t really agree with keywords as the name so I added another function (brand new last night) that shows the persons real name and then next to it, it shows a link using the anchor text from the users registered site name.

This only happens for registered comluv.com users which means, bots, spammers and other evil doers wont get to feel the luv. And, if a member starts behaving like an evel doer, I can ban them from one point and they no longer get to be a dofollow taker.

It’s not ready yet but comluv gold will be the one (comment) plugin to rule them all!

happy blogging!

It will take some more time for the plugin be ready and available for public use. Thus the ad-hock solution:

My Request till permanent solution is obtained

Please, don’t enter keywords in Name field of comments form. It is meant for your name.

Should you promote your keyword, you can enter up to one link in comment text as your signature. Start your link url with http:// to point to your site correctly otherwise your link will be internal.

As far as possible make your Avatar displayed. Comments without Avatar are considered ‘with spam email address’.

Links that are relevant to the context of comment are welcomed if they really add value. Please don’t over do it to appear spam.

I will not approve very short comments. Those greedy tongs that just intends to lick juice.

I hope KeywordLuv feature plug-in will be available soon to automate the process. I hope till then you won’t mind the restrictions.

Happy Blogging!

I still have lots to learn about dofollow and nofollow.  I have commentluv on my blog.  Does that automatically make it dofollow?

Its not commentLuv in fact to make your blog dofollow or nofollow, it’s the rel=‘nofollow’ plugin in your html code that makes a link nofollow. I checked your blog and it is dofollow blog. But because you have used IntenseDebate which is java based commenting system, the dofollow links can’t pass the link juice to the links on comment. That way, the links on comments are not ‘nofollow’ but because search engines can’t see those comments behind Java, the linkLove can’t flow down through those links.

Thank you Kevin for digging this post.

A good move you have here Suresh. Making your blog a dofollow is one of the best thing ever in blogging community. Well, It will also makes u busy in moderating comments as well as differentiating spam from non spam. Anyway, congratulations for this change.

just to let you know that using the wysiwyg editor for your comments means a user will have to click the box off and on again to fire the script (this is because wysiwyg uses an iframe and cannot be seen by the plugin javascript when you click in to it)

I know I haven’t  learned already all about this dofollow thing, but I heard from everywhere that it is a good move, so may I say Congratulations  :)
I found a lot of  interesting information on your blog, I will come back because I’m sure that I can learn a lot from here :)

  7. I have done the same thing on my blog and I have seen a good result in more people leaving a comment.
I think CommentLuv is a really good plugin.

I’m also implementing now this thing on my blog and I’m glad of the results!  I will come back to this blog, to learn more things!

Just learn about blogs that are Do Follow.. stumble on one site and became very interested on this subject. Now, I am learning another thing! thanks! :) Need to check on CommentLuv plugin after reading your post :)

I’ve just purchased an SEO book where I learned about posting links on dofollow blogs, and I found this site in a google search.  Can anyone tell me from experience how many links you’d need (with no keyword anchor text) to start seeing an increase in ranking?  Seems kind of tedious to just run around posting in blogs for traffic?

Thanks for sharing about the CommentLuv plugin..I’ll definitely be looking into this more.

  11. Justin says:

I think the better is nofollow , if you want a lot of spam comments from people that promete their site throught comments — then you should make your blog dofollow !

  12. Thanks for sharing your “link juice” with us :)   Though I gotta agree with Justin above.  I’m guessing you’ve noticed a huge increase in spam?  Is this the only reason why many blogs choose not to be a ‘dofollow?’  Seems like the ‘dofollow’ is a great way to get loads of extra traffic.

  13. Andrew David says:

Well i would agree here.. keyword promotion is exactly give and take process.. If you are commenting in do follow blogs you should also allow do follow comments in your blogs.. Nice sharing..

I have to agree that dofollow is the way to go, we’ve done the same on our blog, but it does generate a lot of spam commenting.  I fully believe in people getting a little something back for spending the time to read and comment, but it does open the comments up to abuse.  We recently wrote a post titled ‘Cheap Backlinks — 1000 backlinks for £19.99′, about how bad an idea paying for cheap backlinks was.  The number of comments we got from ‘paid’ commenters who obviously hadn’t read the post was so funny — things like ‘dude, that’s a really good offer!!’

  15. Dr Gauresh says:

Yes I agree this dofollow thing can be quite a pest.. People dont really appreciate the quality of blogging as a resource. They feel everyone can be a “I can provide top google rankings” SEO expert.
But blogging is an art, and those who have it can easily post relevant comments, and gain respect along with backlinks.
