How to Use Embed Tweets in Blog Post? Three Steps with Blackbird Bookmarklet
Have you ever needed to paste a tweet on your blog post? How did you do that? Yes, take a screen shoot and paste on blog as an image. It’s lame isn’t it. But now the problem is over! Twitter released Blackbird today for embedded tweets!
What is Embedded Tweets?
According to Yahoo News, the embeddable tweets are essentially a micro-blogging version of newspaper-era pull quotes, intriguing statements that aim to get attention of readers and entice them to read the entire article. Twitter is calling the embedded tweets the “new quotes.”
Now, you can obtain code snippet to paste on your blog post so that exact replica of the tweet is displayed. This will eliminate “the peril of transcription” says Twitter.
How to use Embedded Tweets in Blog Posts?
1. Copy the full URL of a tweet
(e.g. http://twitter.com/JustKissie/status/13606005062)
2. Go to http://media.twitter.com/blackbird-pie/
3. Click on the input text field
4. Paste the URL
5. Click on “Bake it”
6. Click on the text area where the HTML code is created
7. Select all text (press ctrl+a or cmd+a on a Mac)
8. Copy (ctrl+c or cmd+c on a Mac)
How does it appear on blog post?
Following is the output of the code displayed above.
RT @dahara: Snowflakes are one of nature’s most fragile things, but just look at what they can do when they stick together. ~ Vesta Kelly
Isn’t it more lively and desirable? Certainly it is.
A Better Three Steps to Use Embedded Tweets
publitweet.com presents a better way to do the same thing just in 3 steps! All you need to do is add a bookmarklet on your browser. You can find the bookmarklet here. Look towards the middle of the page and find link. Drag the bookmarklet to Bookmarks toolbar. Now, all you need to do is 1-2-3!
- Go to the URL of a tweet (e.g. http://twitter.com/JustKissie/status/13606005062)
- Click on the bookmarklet
- Copy (press ctrl+c or cmd+c on a Mac)
Great! It’s just these 3 steps!
Isn’t it amazing to use real tweets in blog posts? I believe there will be lots of tweets being posted in blog posts as “New Quotes”!
Happy Blogging!

This is a great tutorial. I’ve just been using an RSS feed on my site but it doesn’t look as nice as yours does. I’m gonna try to do this without screwing it up.
