Google Adsense Ads Causing Slow Page Load?
Few days back Google announced that ‘Page Speed’ is considered in algorithm to assign PageRank for websites. Though the factor of load time in PageRank algorithm is less than 1%, it will certainly impact if your site is too slow to load.
In general, a website would have to be particularly slow for its ranking to be affected. We look at the time it takes to load all components of a page that contribute to page speed, including images, rich media, and Javascript/HTML/CSS code. – Richard Rabbat, Product Manager (Inside AdSense)
A fast responding website better pleases visitors. They have the right to get high ranking compared to the cluttered and sluggish pages. What’s the use of ranking high to a site where users are not happy? When talking about page load there comes every element that contribute the load time – images, media, javascript and your content itself. Are you facing the Google Adsense Ads taking longer time to increase you load time? Are they going to be the cause of your low ranking? Are you removing Adsense Ads to improve the page load time for your blog? I’d like to hear you though Richard ascertains:
AdSense is built to load ads quickly so there’s no need to change your AdSense setup. Even so, we are working to speed up our ads products further.
If you’d like to learn more about speeding up your website, or evaluate your site’s speed, we encourage you to look at Site Performance in Webmaster Tools and try developer tools such as Page Speed, YSlow, and WebPageTest.org. Please note that at this time, the only way to determine whether your site has been affected is if you’ve seen a recent change in your search ranking.

I think a lot of java as well as widgets will slow a site down big time. Net audio ads i noticed will sometimes slow my blog loading time too so i wouldnt rule out adsense having the same effect.

I have added adsense ads, and I feel some of them slow down my page.

That’s a really good point. I frequently notice that adsense is slowing down the loading of the page but it didn’t occur to me that could factor into speed affecting page rank. I get the impression that the site has to be unusually slow, however, to be negatively impacted.

You know- I never once took that into consideration. It’s a good point though. Now, not only are the ads annoying, but they’re slowing us down!

It’s funny how Google can tell us they will use page load time in the algorithms but their products load slow. I find this also to be the case with Google maps when I iframe them into a blog entry.

Google Adsense should always be used with care – not only do you improve page load speed but also CTR and your earnings

I don’t think they do, I’ve been using them for a long time and haven’t noticed any difference.
