Development of Computers–Funny Predictions

funny computersComputers are changing the world – even more rapidly – and so are changed  themselves – more than you can think about.

Don’t get ashamed, its not just you,  find here how some genius of the discipline predicted their future of computers. You  will die of laughing, no, these are not jokes, but they help you understand how  computers evolved unpredictable!

Its not too old – just a few years – some not more than 20 years how they supposed and how computers proved them wrong.

Computer in the future may weight no more than 1.5 tons

- Popular Science, 1949

How heavy is your PC today? Confused smile

I think there is a world market for maybe five computers

- Thomas watson, Chairman of IBM, 1943

May be 5? Surprised smile

There is no reason anyone would want a computer in their home

- Ken Oslen, founder and president of Digital Equipment Corp, 1957

Hey, do you want more for your car? Smile with tongue out

Everything that can be invented has been invented

- Charles H. Duell, Commissioner, U.S. Office of patents

Angry smile Why the hell that invention not yet stopped?

640K ought to be enough for anybody

- Bill Gates, 1981

Time is really unpredictable, isn’t it? How would they respond today if interviewed?

Haha These are awesome.  The best part is that they are all leaders in the field.  Cheers

    • Suresh Khanal on November 16, 2010

That’s what Carlton. Computers are extremely deceptive, aren’t they?

I'm sure that when Bill made that prediction he was thinking "For the next two years" :°

    • Suresh Khanal on November 16, 2010

Most probably Isa. I just wish to juxtapose the time he said and today. How far the technology leaped off the time!

  • Bon Giorno on November 16, 2010

640K ownage hehe, I love these quotes. Everyone says something dumb once or twice right

    • Suresh Khanal on November 16, 2010

Or if it might be off-quoted! they said it in certain context and now appears completely funny to us when out of context. But it is wondering, isn’t it?

  • Mia Hunderacer on November 16, 2010

Well, although the quotes are accurate, most of them are said and to be understood as being a fact of the market at that particular time. For instance Bill Gates never said it would be enough RAM forever, it was at the time being enough.
Having that said these sentences are amusing, but I find it even more amusing when people from the past have drawn or made an image of their thought of the future society and computers. Those are typically WAY off..  :)

    • Suresh Khanal on November 16, 2010

I agree Mia! I don’t want to portray them as dumb heads – how dare I? I wished to strike the change in this short span of time. What computers were and what they are now.

  • Patricia@lavenderuses on November 17, 2010

    Hi Suresh

We just can't see the way forward into the future can we??!!  So glad we can't.  I never imagined I would own a computer let alone be blogging and doing internet marketing of my products :-)

Great post as it's good to see where we have been, even if we are not sure where we are heading in the blogosphere…..hopefully we are heading to success :-)

Sure Patricia, world is more dashing and full of opportunities with the technology advancing with this harsh speed. Won’t see just a couple of years back what I wished to do and can’t imagine one year ahead where I’ll be in this technology tornado!

  • Robert Guillegan on November 17, 2010

LOL!! And the best thing is they are all great people cracking jokes. That teaches us that innovation and changes is constant.

  • Cheats S30SCI Movie on November 18, 2010

this prediction is quite true on the other hand..

  • Google OS on November 18, 2010

Though computer quotes are yet are they thought provoking and indeed hit the nail in its head, right? Its like expect the unexpected and If it is possible, it is done; if impossible, it shall be done!

    • Suresh Khanal on November 18, 2010

You expressed it very correct. Its like expect the unexpected and if not possible it shall be done!

  • denia villas on November 18, 2010

I hate computers because they keep advances but crash evern more. I just want a computer without bugs. More i spend the worse it gets!

  • Tony G on November 21, 2010

I think that those predictions look funny now because of the time it was made. Computers revolutionized the whole world and our lives. Technology has leaped tremendously because of computers which resulted to more powerful computers.
If anything no one can really be expected to make accurate predictions.

  • @Trivia Questions on November 25, 2010

I strongly agree with these statement "Computers are changing the world – even more rapidly – and so are changed  themselves – more than you can think about." because indeed computers evolved. They are chameleonic in nature that no matter fast and high modernization is, they are blending in.

  • marriage license records@ on November 25, 2010

There was once quote quote that funny joke are the one that denotes truth, I agree! Looking on the quotes, they are all in the form of jokes and they are all reality. Right?

  • fransisca on December 2, 2010

hahahaha..LOLs.. are you googling for those quotes? the world is changing, everyone knows that.  your site is so refreshing. i like that

  • jeff on December 8, 2010

Hahah, funny but true. We never really can't predict what will happen in the future. And technology has been surprising us people. Inventors create something we never could have imagined…

  • aktivtek on December 11, 2010

    Hahaha. Really good ones.

  • simplyD@Healthy Recipes on December 14, 2010

It doesn't take much imagination to understand that computers will be dramatically different in 20 years to what we have now. Smaller, faster, more capabilities, and without a doubt probably more voice integrated to allow a hands free environment.

  • Michael@Door Lock Types on December 27, 2010

Just found this- Hilarious!  How did you find/compile these?  Makes me wonder where we'll be in another 50 years…

  • ankita on January 18, 2011

Well, although the quotes are accurate. I agree the statement  the computers can rapidly change the world.

  • jyoti on February 7, 2011

  • Paul on February 9, 2011

I think that computers will soon have everything integrated and will be able to sync with everything.

lmfao! Just goes to show you that some things indefinitely catch on, give or a take a few decades .

  • Matt on February 18, 2011

These comments just show how little we really know about technology.  With the rate at which it changes the future is anyones guess.  Funny article.  I'm glad I work with animals, very easy to understand.  Check out my videos

Computers also changes my life a lot. I owned my first computer when I entered college. It’s a big desktop. I obtained a great deal information upon all subjects my teachers required us to research.
