Which book to use to prepare Computer Operator?
This is the question I most frequently encounter in Facebook. Many new friends emerge in Facebook chat and throw this question to me. It is very hard to recommend any particular book, as each contain more errors. The preparation books are doing more harm than any good. I take a name, they go and buy that book and the next day I get complains that the book contains so many errors. Rather than helping, the book started to confuse even on the aspects where one was already confident.
But whatever, a book is certainly required to take as a base. We can go on adding other resources and can refer, but a base book is essential. So, I went to different bookstores and skimmed through different books looking for suitable one that will be helpful to prepare the Computer Operator examination. You should go with two different strategy when preparing Computer Operator examination:
(1) Engulf as much content as you can. This will increase your knowledge base and help you in guessing the correct answer successfully even if the question was a completely new or you never saw that question before.
(2) Sharpen your memory and go through as many probable questions as possible. This will bring you to a position where almost none of the questions are new to you. You’ve already seen it at some time and solved yourself.
The choice of book for these two different strategies will be completely different. I’ll be talking about some books for the later strategy after a couple of months when the use of them are felt required. Before that, we need to go for the first strategy.
Because the syllabus of Computer Operator very closely matches with the Class IX and SLC course and to some extent class XI & XII curriculum, the text book for those grades should be the first shoot!
While skimming, I had a bit inclined to R.C. Khanal’s book (As I’m also Khanal ), I checked Unlimited Publication too and other about half a dozen books and finally selected two books for this preparation session. Anybody joining “Computer Operator Exam Preparation Session for 2012” should get one copy of this book. I’m displaying the image of these books so that it will be easy for you to identify it in the market.
These books are designed based on SLC curriculum. Class 9 book costs NRS 260 and Class 10 book costs 270. You can ask for at least 10% discount on marked price. After judging many books from different angles, these I find better suitable to the Computer Operator preparation. We will skip some of the chapters that are not needed to our course. Rest perfectly blends our requirement.
