An Example of Perfect SEO – BloggingJunkie

This is how to SEO your blog
Started on February 15, 2010 BlogingJunkie.com snatched Google PR 2, just in 45 days, in this recent PR Update! How is it possible to mark the heavy foot perfectly over this crowded and steep competitive blogging universe? I sit to make a study on this site with an intention of digging out the secret.
Why? It will help to improve my own blog and to share the wealth of knowledge with you all!
BloggingJunkie is owned and operated by the skilled hands of Imran Yousaf – A banker by profession, a blogger with technical enthusiasm and a small kid who loves playing Need For Speed racing game!
I did not find him engaged a lot commenting on other’s posts though, he stays updated on this blogging world. The major factor that awarded him a leap in PR was not back links from comments! Then how he achieved? following are some of my findings!
On Page SEO
“My expectation was PR3 for this PR update, but with just on-page SEO, the desired was not achieved”
-Yousaf Imran
the above line is what he mentioned in recent post “Google Page Rank Update April 2010”. He targeted for PR3 in those 45 days! Pretty ambitious, isn’t it? But whatever he achieved is still plausible.
So what he has done as ‘On Page SEO’ in his blog posts?
I took an example of his previous post Lets get Second Click, Reduce Bounce Rate and tried to digg out the secret. Imran has shared the snapshot of his second click strategy result, have a look at his tremendous decrease in bounce rate from 76.28% to 36.55% is clearly evident by snapshot shared by Imran.
Emphasize the keywords in post:-
It is clearly evident that Yousaf is implementing this technique very effectively. The keywords such as:
generating traffic, building social networking, Bounce rate, second click, Google analytics, bounce rate, bouncing rate, headline, not fulfilling the promise, headline is not compelling, articles’ content is poor, eye catching, graphics, whole matter in two or three paragraphs, hard to navigate, don’t find relevant content
are made distinctly different than the regular text on this post. You can understand the trick. They were not required if it were just for human readers. That is how to dictate search engine crawlers. Search engines know what to look on in his page!
SEO your images in post:-
This is another trick to enforce your keywords. Yousaf has placed one picture in that post. The name of image file is “bounce_rate.jpg”. The image is assigned with an alt text “Post image for Lets get Second Click, Reduce Bounce Rate”.
But you don’t see any of these off screen arrangements. They are totally meant for search engine crawlers. They will see these parameters and decide what the post is about.
Clean and well managed article structure:-
When just landed on any of the posts, you’ll get impressed with very tidy and well managed post structure. There are suitable sized paragraphs well separated with each other. Easily distinguishable titles (though he has not made use of heading tags except the h1 for post title). I wonder if it has to do with search engine crawlers or increasing reader’s experience.
Inner-post Linking:-
This is another strategy, I found, he has implemented very strongly. You can find a link to his next post “What is And How to Write Unique Content?” just below the topic Low Quality Content. It is compelling for both the search engines as well as for readers. It greatly increases the chances of second click in his blog.
He knows it very well that the links inside post are more valuable!
Similarly, the list of five posts in ‘Related posts’ section ensures the tight integration among the posts in his blog. This is highly favored by search engines.
Distorting Words to Convert into Keywords:-
Though not excessive, it was found one instance in his post. The word “Irrelevant” is broken as “Ir-relevent” to harness the benefit of both words. He made it “irrelevant keyword” as well as “relevant keyword” from just that one word.
Minimize Ads in Post:-
On your first reading, you’ll hardly notice any ads there. There are three Infolinks Ads but widely scattered. The in-text ads are single underlined and font color changed. This makes them distinguishable but without hampering the reading experience.
After digging through the page code, it reveals that they were forced to display only in the post block.
Citation from Authentic Sources:-
And in the last but not the least, he is adding content from authentic sources with complete URL. He has added definition of bounce rate as defined by Google and added quick link below the definition. An outgoing link to authentic source, whose authenticity is unquestioned, is highly praised by search engines.
Aren’t those tricks rocking? Why not to implement them and improve in SEO and ultimately Great PR!
BTW, What’s Next?
I was much impressed after I read his posts and the way he optimizes the blog posts. I made a request and it is my honor that he accepted to answer some of the questions I asked. Here goes “An Interview with Yousaf Imran” – the banker turned into a blogger! Don’t miss it in my next post!

I was actually able to grab PR 3 in 50 days. I think it was quite a feat, was pretty proud of me. But I promoted it quite a lot. I talk about SEO, people like that.

Congrats Michelle on your success. My target was minimum PR 3 and Maximum 4, but due to many problems i was not able to achieve the minimum target. One major cause was the my web host due to which my site was down for many hours for many days during the month of March. Cheap web hosting cost me a lot.

Absolutely correct! In fact SEO is just widening the road so that more guests could arrive comfortably. After all, the real show begin when they arrive. Your hospitality is tested if they are happy or not.

I believe that this success has really something to do with Imran’s blog bounce rate.
Previously, I’ve reported, that my posts with videos get high real-time search results.. The only reason of that is the improvement of a bounce rate.
Will see what happens afte the next Google pagerank update

There’s a great WP plugin called SEO Friendly Images. It automatically does the ALT and TITLE info for all images in your posts, from your post title and keywords.
VERY useful!

Can really relate to the cheap hosting problem. Ouch! Won't do that again. Great info on use of alt tags and thanks to Lewis for the plug-in tip. Also very good info on reducing bounce rate. But totally agree with Mars Dorian – if you only write for spiders, you'll be 'toast' in the long run.

I have CommentLuv on a lot of my websites and have since Andy came up with the idea. It was around the time that comment exchange communities were thriving. The problem with those communities were that people were only commenting on the sites they were assigned. It became a chore for some and a pain to others when some bloggers did not update as much. The system was quite random.
